Who we are

SKADD Academy ("we", "us") is the responsible party for personal information collected through this website. You can contact us at info@skaddacademy.co.za.

What we collect

When you register (apply) to study, we collect: your name, South African ID number, date of birth, gender, email address, mobile number, province, municipality and town, education, current situation, goals, the module and course you're interested in, your access to devices and internet, your motivation and business idea (if any), and how you heard about us. If you choose to, we also collect your race, which is special personal information and is only processed with your explicit consent.

When you send an enquiry, we collect your name, email address, and optionally your phone number, province, organisation and message.

Our web host also records standard technical information (such as IP address) for security and to prevent spam.

Why we use it

• To assess and manage your application, and to contact you about it.
• To plan where to offer training, using the location information from applications.
• To track and report on our youth, women and transformation goals. Reports to funders and partners use combined, anonymous figures only.
• To help graduates find work through the SKADD Talent Agency, if you enrol and graduate.
• To respond to enquiries, and to send you news about new courses if you asked us to.
• To keep the website secure and prevent spam and fraud.

How we protect it

Your information is stored in a secure database that only authorised members of our admissions team can access. ID numbers are encrypted, and each time the full number is viewed, it is logged. We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers that help us run the website and email, and only as needed for the purposes above.

Bot protection

Our forms may use Cloudflare Turnstile to check that a real person is submitting them. Cloudflare may process technical information about your device and browser for this purpose.

How long we keep it

If you are not selected, we keep your application for up to 24 months so we can contact you about future intakes, unless you ask us to delete it sooner. If you enrol, we keep your records for as long as needed for your studies, certification and legal requirements.

Your rights

You may ask to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, withdraw your consent (including for race information), object to its use, or unsubscribe from our messages at any time by emailing info@skaddacademy.co.za. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa.

Cookies and analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our website (for example, which pages are popular and where visitors come from) so we can improve it. Analytics cookies are only set if you click Accept on our cookie notice; you can change your choice at any time using the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page. We do not use advertising cookies, and we never send your application details, ID number or contact information to Google.

The website also loads fonts from Google Fonts, and it may use Cloudflare for security and performance. Both may receive your IP address when the page loads.

We may update this notice from time to time. The latest version will always be published on this page.
